Dear Silver Rapids Lodge,

I am planning a weekend getaway for myself this summer, and I have determined that Silver Rapids Lodge is the best place for me to stay. Its unsurpassed beauty and lack of urban noise are what draws me to it. I have six dogs that I will be bringing with me, all of which are housetrained. They are all German Shepherds. Your hotel is the ideal getaway for me, because of the fact that you allow pets, and also because I enjoy fishing, which you so admirably advertise. What kind of fish live in the Bighorn River? Carp?

The reason I am writing this letter, instead of simply phoning in my request for a reservation, is to notify you of my special circumstances. You see, at age five I was afflicted with a terrible disease that claimed two of my senses, eliminating my ability to hear and destroying my olfactory glands, leaving me smell-less. One of my dogs is my “auxiliary scent reception” dog, who has been trained thoroughly to detect scents such as cigarette smoke (which I am highly allergic to), pollen (which gives me allergies), and blood. And another dog is my “ear” dog: he hears things that I can’t, such as everything. Whenever there is a car coming down the road, and I am crossing, he barks to alert me that he hears it. The other four dogs are both companions for my two special ones and for me, because I live a lonely life.

So, I would like to stay at Silver Rapids Lodge from the hours of July 4th to July 17th. It will be me and my six dogs, and I do not require anything special – just a bed, a TV, and HBO. And room service. Will you gently place a mint on my pillow?

Also, do you have a pool? I enjoy swimming almost as much as I enjoy fishing, and so do my dogs.

Sincerely,

Kevin Dickinson

P.S. – Do I have to get a Minnesota fishing license since I only have one valid for New Jersey? Because I don’t want to go to jail or anything.
