Dear
London Philharmonic Orchestra,
I was
wondering if you would be interested in performing my latest
composition, “The Waffles of Venice.” It is a beautifully moving, deeply
inspiring full-orchestra movement that is guaranteed to bring tears to
your eyes (then make you chuckle with its crazy 7 minute tuba solo).
Twelve years of my life were spent traveling through Italy; I stayed in
the beautiful city of
Venice for three of those years. I made my
living as one of those rower guys, who sings traditional Italian
opera-like songs while rowing couples through the streets of
Venice in a funny-looking boat. Many couples confronted me about my
mistranslated lyrics and horrible singing voice, but I just kept on
singing. I didn’t want to ruin the romantic atmosphere. Plus I don’t
speak Italian, so I couldn’t effectively argue with them.
I was
rowing some people down a watery street one day when I smelled the most
mouth-watering aroma… the delicious scent of waffles in the Venetian
suburbs! I looked up and saw the most beautiful waffles I had ever seen,
perched atop a windowsill to cool in the summer breeze. It was so
inspiring that I wrote some music for it! The problem is, I have no one
to play it. So technically, I have never heard it. (I hope it doesn’t
suck)
Please let me know if you are willing to play this! I will conduct if
necessary. I look forward to your correspondence.
Sincerely,

Kevin
